Aries rules the head. The skull, the brain, the face, the eyes, the upper jaw — the part of the body that arrives in a room first and, in this sign, frequently arrives before the rest of the person has decided anything. It is the first sign and it governs the first thing over the threshold.

The pattern is unmistakable in practice. Aries runs hot in the head: tension headaches, migraine, jaw clenched hard enough to wear teeth, eye strain, and an alarming statistical fondness for head injuries. This is the sign that goes first and looks second, and the skull takes the consequences.

Aries's totem is the ram, and the specific behaviour matters: rams do not fight with claws or teeth, they charge head-first, repeatedly, and the skull is reinforced to survive it. Mountain rams also climb terrain nothing else attempts and butt heads for status rather than to kill — the aggression is real and it is largely ritual.

For a pet, Aries wants an animal with energy to match. Working and sporting dogs, horses, anything that needs a run rather than a cuddle. This sign is a superb owner for a high-drive animal that would exhaust anyone else, and a poor one for a creature that needs patience during a slow adolescence. Aries should be honest about the training phase before choosing the breed.

Aries's habitat is anywhere something is starting. A gym at six in the morning. A start-up with four people and no furniture. A start line. Open ground with room to run. Aries does badly in bureaucracy, in committees, in waiting rooms, and in any environment where the response to a good idea is a process. Then the correctives — lavender and chamomile, which Aries will describe as boring and will sleep through the night on. The Aries shadow is the cost of a nature built for ignition — of learning that moving was safer than feeling, and never quite discovering what would have surfaced if they had stayed.

Aries pursues. This sign falls fast, says so immediately, and shows up with an unguarded enthusiasm that most people find disarming after years of being courted cautiously.
